Smith Island Fishing Tournament Rules

A tournament certified ruler will be issued to each team/angler. This will be mandatory for each photo submission.

Prior to each of the three fishing days there will be a different number or letter code that will be emailed to each team/angler that will be required to be included in each photo submission. If the code is not present in the picture the submission is not valid. (The code may be written on anglers hand or on a piece of paper)

Each fish must be of MARYLAND DNR legal minimum size to be submitted:

  • Rockfish: 19”
  • Red Drum: 18”
  • Black Drum: 16”
  • Speckled trout: 14”
  • Oyster Toad: N/A

Eligible fishing grounds are not limited to anywhere in the Chesapeake Bay

All methods of fishing are permitted as long as it involves rod & reel

Ties will be settled by the first fish submitted to iAngler

SIFT will be centered around the Smith Island Stringer as well as each species’ Calcutta. Initial entry fees will automatically make the team/angler eligible to compete for the Smith Island Stringer. Calcuttas must be purchased separately for each species.

The Smith Island Stringer will be made up of three fish (1 rockfish, 1 speckled trout, 1 red drum). The team or angler with the longest combined inches of the 3 fish wins.
