2021 MBYC OFFSHORE SHOOTOUT

Saturday, September 25, 2021

This is a private tournament for members of the Mission Bay Yacht Club.

If you wish to charge the registration fee to your MBYC account, a Coupon Code provided by the Tournament Director can be used for registration in lieu of payment via PayPal.

Mission Bay Yacht Club Anglers Club is excited to host the “MBYC Offshore Shootout” for those who want to get out in the ocean and get the big game fish.

This will be a one day tournament format, lines in at 6:00 AM and last weigh in at 4:00 PM. The Offshore Shootout is $75.00 per team or individual to enter. 100% of the entry fees will be split up and payouts will go to the largest fish of each category (Tuna and Yellowtail). If no fish are caught in one of the two category’s all the money goes to the other category. We will have other prizes for 2nd and 3rd place of each category.

We are using the iAngler Tournament App and Software to manage all “Fish-Weigh In” procedures as well as Sign-Up and Leader Board. As you catch fish offshore you will take a picture using your smartphone with the fish and the scale in view of the camera, if you are out of cell-range your pictures will upload once you are back in cell coverage. If you are not tech-savvy we will help you through the process (it’s really easy). VHF Communication on the water will be through VHF Channel 71.

Tournament Schedule:

  • Saturday Sept. 25th Fishing Derby from 6AM to 4 PM (last weigh-in 4 PM).
    • Followed by an Awards Ceremony at the MBYC Club 5 O’clock somewhere event (approx. 5:30 PM) for winner announcements.

Target Species:

  • Tuna (Bluefin & Yellowfin)
  • Yellowtail

Rules and Regulations:

  • Weigh-In Procedures: After catching your fish you will use the iAngler App on your smart phone to take a picture of the fish with a weight measuring device in view with the fish.
  • Your catch will not go “live” on the Leader Board until 3 PM (final weigh-in is 4 PM).
  • Each submitted weigh-in photo will be screened by the Tournament Director / Moderator for accuracy. In the case of a tie the photo that was submitted first during the tournament will get one extra point for the tie breaker.
  • You can fish from any type of platform that works for you; Boat, Dinghy, Kayak, Paddle Board, Rental Boats are also permitted. The boundaries will be anywhere in the Pacific Ocean.
